ActiveCampaign alternatives for Shopify and WooCommerce stores
Updated 14 October 2026
ActiveCampaign is a capable automation and CRM suite. Stores that look for an ActiveCampaign alternative usually compare it with Klaviyo, Omnisend and MailingPlatform. Below is a plain comparison of what each tool counts, caps and charges for, then a step-by-step migration checklist and an export guide if you decide to move.
What we don't promise.
If you genuinely use ActiveCampaign's CRM (pipelines, deal stages, lead scoring, sales sequences), we are not a replacement for that, so keep a CRM for that part. This platform does ecommerce email: campaigns, segmentation and store-triggered automations. Migration is CSV-based, flows and templates are rebuilt rather than imported, and on the Scale plan and up we do the migration with you.
ActiveCampaign alternatives compared
ActiveCampaign combines email automation with a CRM. Stores that compare it usually look at these three. The table sticks to what each vendor publishes on its own pricing and help pages: the free plan or trial, what the bill is based on, how much you can send, and the one thing a store should know before signing up.
| Tool | Free plan / trial | What you pay for | Email sending | Note for stores |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ActiveCampaign | 14-day free trial, no credit card | Starter, Plus, Pro and Enterprise, priced by contact limit. Plus from $49/mo at 1,000 contacts, $389/mo at 25,000 (billed annually, USD, read 14 October 2026). For accounts created on or after 3 November 2025 all contacts count regardless of status; for older accounts only active contacts | 10x contact limit (Starter, Plus), 12x (Pro), 15x (Enterprise) | Shopify and WooCommerce are standard ecommerce integrations. Starter allows 5 actions per automation. SMS and WhatsApp are add-ons, as are CRM pipelines. |
| Klaviyo | Up to 250 active profiles, 500 email sends a month, $5 of mobile messages a month; email support for the first 60 days | Active profiles. Unsubscribed and suppressed profiles are not billed; profiles added through checkout or orders can count | Limit of 10x the plan's profile maximum | Email and SMS. See the Klaviyo migration guide. |
| Omnisend | 250 contacts, 500 emails a month | Standard and Pro, priced by list size. Billing includes subscribers and non-subscribers who received automated messages; unsubscribed contacts are not billed | Standard: 12x list size a month. Pro: unlimited, fair use | SMS and web push available. See Omnisend alternatives. |
| MailingPlatform | Up to 100 active subscribers, every feature, no time limit; 14-day trial on paid plans, no card | Active subscribers: €39/month up to 3,000, €129 up to 25,000, €299 up to 100,000, €499 unlimited, excl. VAT. Every feature on every plan | Unlimited on every plan; delivery through your own Amazon SES account, which AWS bills by volume | EU-hosted. Native Shopify and WooCommerce apps. Unique discount codes per recipient. Email only. |
Prices and limits read from each vendor's pricing and help pages on 14 October 2026: activecampaign.com/pricing, ActiveCampaign contact limit help, klaviyo.com/pricing, how Klaviyo pricing works, Klaviyo active profiles, omnisend.com/pricing and mailingplatform.net/pricing. Klaviyo and Omnisend paid prices sit in their calculators and are left out on purpose. Vendors change tiers without notice, so check the pages before you commit.
Stay on ActiveCampaign if you use its CRM and sales pipelines. If you mainly send store email to a growing list, compare at your real list size on our flat rate email marketing pricing. Weighing MailerLite as well? The MailerLite alternatives page runs the same comparison.
ActiveCampaign migration checklist
Ten steps, in the order that avoids surprises. The data and the core flows take an afternoon; the warm-up at the end takes a couple of weeks of ordinary sending.
- Check what you pay for todayIn ActiveCampaign, open Billing & Account and note your contact limit. For accounts created on or after 3 November 2025 every contact counts toward the limit whatever its status; for older accounts only active contacts count. Compare that number with our plans, which count active subscribers only.
- Export contacts to CSVIn ActiveCampaign, export your contacts to CSV from the contacts page. Fields, tags and subscription status come along in the file. Export with the status set to "Any" so unsubscribed and bounced contacts come along and stay suppressed. The next section has the exact clicks.
- Import into MailingPlatformOur streaming importer handles 100,000+ row files. Custom fields map to custom fields, tags stay tags, and unsubscribed contacts stay unsubscribed.
- Connect your storeInstall the Shopify or WooCommerce app so orders, checkouts and product views start streaming in from the first minute.
- Set up sendingDelivery runs through your own Amazon SES account. Verify your sending domain with guided DNS setup: SPF, DKIM and DMARC checked live. Usually done in under an hour.
- Rebuild flowsThe revenue automations (abandoned cart, welcome, back in stock, post purchase) ship as ready-made workflows. Turn them on and adjust the copy. ActiveCampaign automations are shared as links that only import into another ActiveCampaign account, so flow logic is rebuilt here, not imported. Before you leave, save a share link or screenshot of each automation as your reference.
- Recreate templatesDescribe your templates to the AI builder and iterate until they match; your brand profile applies colors and logo automatically. Tip: open each automation email in ActiveCampaign and save it as a template so you have the content in one place.
- Discount codesSet up unique codes per recipient; they are created directly in your Shopify or WooCommerce store, on every plan. Check that codes promised in old emails still work.
- Warm upStart with your most engaged segment, then widen over a couple of weeks. Keep ActiveCampaign running until your flows are live here, then pause its automations so nobody gets two emails.
- Cancel or downgrade ActiveCampaignOnce nothing sends from it, close the account or drop to a smaller plan. If you also use its CRM (pipelines, deals), keep a CRM for that part.
On Scale and up, we do the migration with you.
How to export your data from ActiveCampaign
To export everyone, open Contacts, click the menu in the top right of the overview and choose Export. The CSV has columns for custom fields, lead scores and deal scores; tags sit in a single column. Contact notes cannot be exported. A filtered set can be exported from Advanced Search. Steps: How do I export all contacts.
To export one list, go to Contacts, then Lists, open the list, choose a status (Active, Unconfirmed, Unsubscribed, Bounced or Any), click Export and pick the fields. Do not use special characters in the export name or the file comes out as text, not CSV. The list export includes Date Subscribed and Date Unsubscribed. Steps: How to export a list.
Automations are shared as a link that another ActiveCampaign user can import; only the automation and its messages are included, and no file export of automation logic is documented. See How do I share an automation.
Our tip: export each list you want to keep, or keep the tags column, since tags map to tags on import. Campaign history and site tracking stay in ActiveCampaign; store data rebuilds once Shopify or WooCommerce is connected. Help center steps read on 14 October 2026.
One flat price, every feature.
ActiveCampaign prices by contact limit and plan tier, and each tier sets an email send limit of 10 to 15 times its contact limit. Here there is one axis, audience size, and every plan has every feature with unlimited sends. Run your own numbers on the pricing page.
- Unlimited sends on every plan
- Every feature on every plan, from €39 a month
- EU-hosted, GDPR by default, double opt-in built in
Four flows that cover most store revenue.
ActiveCampaign's automation canvas can model almost anything. The flows that drive ecommerce revenue are known: abandoned cart, welcome, back in stock, post purchase and browse triggers. They ship here ready-made, wired to live store data from Shopify or WooCommerce, with revenue attribution per email so you can see what each one earns.
- Ready-made workflows you adjust, not build from scratch
- Store events over webhooks: orders, checkouts, product views, inventory
- Unique per-recipient discount codes minted at send time
# Streaming import Rows 61,447 Mapped email, first_name, tags, status, 5 custom fields Imported 60,502 active Preserved 945 unsubscribed
Fair questions about leaving.
No, and we will not pretend to. If you actively use pipelines, deal stages and lead scoring, keep a CRM for that. If you pay for those features and use the email part, you are the store this platform is built for.
Automation logic cannot be imported between platforms. The ecommerce flows that matter ship as ready-made workflows here; most stores cover their setup by turning on four switches and adjusting the copy. Budget an afternoon.
Contacts, custom fields, tags and subscription status, via CSV export and streaming import. Unsubscribed contacts stay unsubscribed. Campaign history and site tracking data stay behind; behavioural data rebuilds once your store is connected.
On ActiveCampaign's pricing page, Plus starts at $49 a month for 1,000 contacts and is $389 a month at 25,000 contacts, billed annually (read 14 October 2026). Sends are 10 to 15 times the contact limit depending on plan. Here you pay a flat price by active subscribers: €129 a month excl. VAT up to 25,000, with unlimited sends. See our flat rate email marketing pricing for the full plan list.
Stores usually compare ActiveCampaign with Klaviyo, Omnisend and MailingPlatform. The right choice depends on list size, how often you send, whether you need SMS or a CRM, and whether you prefer pricing by contacts or a flat price.
For most stores an afternoon for the data and the core flows: export your contacts to CSV, import them, connect Shopify or WooCommerce and turn on the ready-made workflows. Domain authentication is usually done within an hour. Plan a couple of weeks of gradual sending to warm up.
In ActiveCampaign, export all contacts to CSV from the Contacts page, or open a list under Contacts, then Lists, choose a status and click Export. Custom fields and tags are included; contact notes are not.
Not as files. ActiveCampaign shares automations as links that only import into another ActiveCampaign account, so you rebuild the logic here. The core store flows are ready-made, so most of the work is adjusting copy.
